NEWS Limited and real estate website operator REA Group have struck a marketing alliance aimed at giving advertisers broader coverage in print and digital.
Under the new deal the companies will offer a prestige plus package, combining print and digital, which will allow property advertisers to use News Limited's local newspapers, the REA website and mobile platforms.
News Limited, publisher of The Australian, holds a 61 per cent shareholding in the publicly listed online real estate business.
The package is being launched with the Wentworth Courier in Sydney. The property sections of 88 News Limited metropolitan, community and regional newspapers, with a combined weekly circulation of 7.1 million, will be rebranded as Realestate. REA's website, realestate.com.au, will feature increased branding in the newspapers.
Paul Simos, REA Group general manager, strategy and corporate development, said the offer created more choice for real estate advertisers. "Ultimately, the prestige plus package is about providing real estate agents with an opportunity to generate even better results for their vendors."
Jerry Harris, News Limited's executive group director of commercial and operations, said the alliance would extend the sellers' reach beyond their local markets. "The prestige plus package provides real estate customers and vendors an opportunity to maximise the visibility of their property listings."
